Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions before getting started? Here you’ll find helpful answers about DeeCluttered services, sessions, pricing and what to expect.
My aim is to make the process feel simple, clear and reassuring from the very first step.
No, you do not need to tidy before I arrive.
It is actually helpful to see the space as it is, so I can understand what is not working and create practical systems that suit your real routine. There is no judgement, just support.
No. You will never be forced to get rid of anything.
I will help you make decisions by talking through what you use, need, love and have space for. The final choice is always yours. The aim is not to remove everything, but to create a home that feels calmer, easier to manage and more suited to your lifestyle.
This depends on the size of the space, the amount of belongings and how quickly decisions can be made.
A 3 hour half day session is ideal for a focused area such as a wardrobe, kitchen cupboards, paperwork, a utility space or a small room.
A 6 hour full day session is better for larger areas, multiple spaces, move preparation, unpacking or more detailed organising.
Additional time can be added if needed, subject to availability.
You do not need to buy anything before a session.
In many cases, once items have been sorted and decluttered, you may already have enough storage at home. I can help you make better use of what you already own and suggest practical storage options if anything extra would be useful.
Any storage products, labels, baskets or containers would be discussed separately and are not included in the session price.
Yes. Your home, belongings and personal circumstances will always be treated with care and respect.
Decluttering and organising can feel personal, so confidentiality is very important. I provide a supportive, non judgemental service and will not share details of your home or situation without your permission.
For decluttering, it is usually best for you to be there because you will need to make decisions about what stays and what goes.
Once we have agreed what is being kept and how you would like the space to work, I may be able to continue with organising independently and check in with you as needed.
Yes. I can help you identify items that may be suitable to sell, donate or recycle.
If you are also using my Wardrobe Reset service, I can help decide which clothing, shoes or accessories may be worth listing. I then offer a Wardrobe Resale Service too, so it's as easy as it can be for you.
I can help you sort items into categories such as keep, donate, sell, recycle or dispose of.
Donation drop offs, rubbish removal or tip runs are not automatically included in the session price, but we can discuss options before or during your booking. Larger disposal services may need to be arranged separately.
DeeCluttered is not a cleaning service.
However, as we organise, I can wipe down surfaces, shelves or drawers where needed before items are put back. For deeper cleaning, this would need to be arranged separately.
Once organised then you can book me on an hourly basis to do a maintenance check to see how the solutions are working for you and make any necessary adjustments.
Yes, pets are absolutely fine.
If your pet is friendly and comfortable, I am happy to work around them. If they are nervous, likely to escape, or may become unsettled with movement and sorting, it may be helpful to keep them in another room during the session.
Please do not worry. You do not need to feel embarrassed.
Many people ask for help because a space has become over whelming, busy or difficult to manage. My role is to support you, not judge you. We will work at your pace and focus on practical progress.
Yes. I can help before, during or after a move.
This can include decluttering before packing, sorting items before downsizing, organising what to keep, unpacking in your new home and setting up practical systems from the start.
Yes. I can help sort household paperwork, filing systems, important documents, home office spaces and general admin areas.
For business clients, I can also support with office organisation, filing, stock organisation, workspace set up and practical systems to help things run more smoothly.
You do not need to prepare much.
It can be helpful to have bin bags, recycling bags, basic cleaning products and any storage you already own available. If we are sorting paperwork, having a shredder may also be useful.
Please do not buy new storage products before the session unless we have already discussed them.
Simply get in touch with a brief overview of the area you would like help with.
It is helpful to include:
- Which room or area you would like to organise
- What feels difficult about the space
- Whether you are looking for a 3 hour or 6 hour session
- Your general location
- Any deadlines, such as moving home or preparing for guests
From there, we can arrange a suitable session and talk through the best approach.
Yes. A free initial chat is included so I can understand what you need and recommend the most suitable session length.
This also gives you the chance to ask any questions before booking.
